What's New in the Computer Lab

December is a very busy month in the computer lab! PreK classes are busy with the Starfall.com website. They are continuing to review letters and vowels while learing how to control the mouse.

Kindergarten has been using the Between The Lions section of PBSkids.org website to practice begining reading skills. They are now using both the between the lions section and the Dinosaur Train Section of the site.

First, Second, and Third Grade are using Brain Pop Jr. to Learn about winter, winter holidays, hibernation and arctic habitats. They are also exploring the many online tree decorating and gingerbread house decorating available!

Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Grade are also using http://www.brainpop.com/ to explore winter holidays, snowflakes, glaciers, avalanches and hibernation. They are also using their artistic skills and creating amazing trees and gingerbread houses online. Fourth & Fith Grade are also learning to use Text Edit, a Word Processing program. Sixth, Seventh, and Eight Grade will start their unit on http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/Word2008/default.mspx#/document_elements/ in January.

Eight Grade is hard at work on the Intel Computers online lesson, The Journey Inside: A Fascinating Look Inside the World of Computers. There are six units and we work on one unit a week. We are now working on the Microprocessors unit. Students have already completed the Introduction to Computers, Circuits and Switches, and Digital Information.
